University of Calgary Divest for Palestine has created an email template to be sent to the Mayor of Calgary Jyoti Gondek and Calgary Police leadership in response to police brutality at the student encampment for Palestine.

Calgary, 2024-05-10 The Muslim Council of Calgary stands united in condemning the recent actions of the Calgary Police Service, which employed excessive force against peaceful protesters advocating for an end to Israel’s aggression in Palestine. As advocates for justice and human rights, we express our deep concern over this violation of fundamental rights.

Especially when Israel's brutal military operations in Gaza have led to staggering Palestinian casualties and destruction, such a gesture on the part of the City of Ottawa is extremely insensitive. Many international observers have criticized these actions as disproportionate and in violation of human rights. Additionally, assertions at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) indicate that Israel is plausibly committing genocide in Gaza.

May 2nd, 2024 Justice For All Canada is calling upon Canadian universities where students have initiated encampment protests to heed their demands and divest from Israeli entities amid the genocide in Gaza.
