Montreal, May 7, 2024 — Canadian civil society organizations across multiple sectors are escalating their push to end Canada’s trade in military and security technology with Israel. In a joint statement issued today for an “Arms Embargo Now,” Palestinian associations, labour unions, human rights organizations, and community groups representing more than 2 million people across Canada are calling on the Canadian government to utilize new and powerful tools to definitively end military trade with Israel, including immediately implementing an official arms embargo using Canada’s Special Economic Measures Act.

Montreal, February 10, 2024 — Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) is incensed to learn that Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly has been deliberately misleading the Canadian public in claiming that Canada hasn’t sent weapons to Israel since Oct. 7, whereas new information reveals the opposite.

We, the undersigned civil society organizations, have profound concerns about the legal and humanitarian implications of Canada’s transfer of weapon systems to the government of Israel. These concerns have only been amplified following the January 26th provisional ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Amidst the harrowing attacks on the Palestinian people, people in Canada are engaging in a bold act of solidarity to force our government to end its complicity in genocide. People in Canada from coast to coast have joined a rotating hunger strike for Gaza.
