On Monday, April 30th 2012, Mohammed Al-Niaimi, a two-time world champion for martial arts visited Abraar School. He came to the Grade 6 class to talk to them about his martial arts career.

Mohammed Al-Niaimi started learning martial arts at the age of seven when he and some friends were being bullied.

He has won two world championships, two Arab championships and several other Iraqi competitions. He was also one of ten people out of 8000 to win a certificate that allows him to train others in martial arts.

Mr. Al-Niaimi has trained in Syria, Turkey, Romania, Iraq, and China.

Mr. Al-Niaimi says, “When you say you can do it, then you can do it.”

He also says “To have success you need confidence, a goal for your life, and you need to know how to solve your own problems.”

Mr. Al-Niaimi lives in Ottawa, Ontario, with his wife and two children. He is teaching his 10 year old son martial arts.

Mr. Al-Niaimi says he is thinking of having martial arts classes for the students of Abraar.
