The City of Ottawa is seeking volunteers to sit on its Police, Library, and Health Boards as well as the Committee of Adjustment - for the term ending November 30, 2014. While the qualifications for each Board/Committee are different and can be found at: ottawa.ca/residents/volunteerservices/volunteer_ottawa_en.html, prospective members must be residents of the City of Ottawa and at least 18 years of age or older. Time commitments vary by Board or Committee but potential volunteers should be prepared to attend monthly meetings at a minimum, as well as be willing to serve on sub-committees established by the Boards and the Committee of Adjustment. Residents interested in sitting on one of the Boards or on the Committee of Adjustment are invited to attend an Open House and Information Session on Monday, November 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Ben Franklin Place, Atrium, 101 Centrepointe Drive (Police and Health Boards and Committee of Adjustment only) or Thursday, November 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 at City Hall (Library Board only). Representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide information regarding the role of volunteers and the mandate and responsibilities of the Boards or the Committee of Adjustment.
