About Us Print

With the grace of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala (glory to Him in the highest) the Muslim Link was launched in 2002. In this day and age, a link is most needed between Muslims and Non-Muslims. That is what Muslim Link is all about.

We started this website and newspaper after bowing in thanks for the blessings that Allah (swt) bestowed upon us here in this great country Canada.

At the beginning of its journey, the Muslim Link was launched as a newsletter in September 2002 to create a united forum for Muslim voices to speak and be heard. In its first year, we compiled, published, and distributed seven issues on a variety of timely themes. Each issue had a distribution of 4,000 copies covering all jumuah (Friday worship service) locations and Islamic schools in Ottawa, Ontario.

One year later, the Muslim Link Newsletter made history by becoming the first Muslim English-language newspaper in Eastern Canada. We expanded our services by providing yearly Calendars, Business & Services Pages and E-nnouncements, all with the aim of "linking believers together".

The Muslim Link is now in its Ninth Volume, having published more than 80 issues in the last 9 years.

In every issue, Muslim Link attempts to educate and create awareness of topical and current events affecting our readers, while striving to meet Islamic standards of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

Mandate:

The Muslim Link is a monthly newspaper that provides a forum for people of all ages living in Central and Eastern Canada to read and write about issues concerning Islam and Muslims.

Every issue aims to educate and create awareness on topics pertaining to Islam and Muslims as well as current events, in accordance with Islamic teachings of truth and justice, and applying journalistic standards of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

The Muslim Link’s aims to bring Canadian Muslims together under the banner of Islam and to open a dialogue with non-Muslims. Muslim Link invites Muslims and Non-Muslims to send in their contributions on issues which affect the Muslim Community as well as the greater Canadian community.

Muslim Link is not affiliated with any particular group or sect. Muslim Link does not directly or indirectly favour any organizations or groups.

Content:

Volunteer writers explore a variety of topics that include, but are not limited to, various aspects of Islam, news and current affairs, community events and other general information that would be of interest to a primarily Muslim readership.

Articles relating to mainstream news and events both locally and internationally offer readers with an Islamic or alternative perspective.

Muslim Link encourages writers of all ages to contribute; however, a special emphasis is placed on including the work of young writers. Muslim Link is committed to offering the youth an opportunity to express themselves while gaining valuable writing experience.

The views and opinions expressed in Muslim Link are strictly those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the view of Muslim Link or any member thereof. Advertising in The Muslim Link does not necessarily imply endorsement.

Advertising:

The newspaper also provides an avenue for Muslim and non-Muslim businesses to advertise and communicate with the Muslim community of Central and Eastern Canada.
