We watched as a nation crumbled
We began to forget, to lose hope
That a tyrant could be humbled

He ruled with an iron fist
Gripped with fear we became paralyzed
With entertainment and sports
They kept us mesmerized
It would get better soon they said
As they ignored the people’s cries

Faces blown, invaded homes/ infants moan with broken bones.
... Numbers cant show how the casulties grow/ the loss is high when soldiers become foes.
The civilian deaths console the regime in control/ graves become homes for the departed souls.
Bodies gashed with bullet holes/ backs are lashed by ruthless patrols.
Fighters fighting with fading tones/ martyr’s waiting to read their scrolls.

Expressions of Muslim Women 2012 PDF Print

Expressions of Muslim Women held their 4th annual show called Winds of Change at Centrepointe Studio Theatre on Dec. 10, 2011. The show exhibited artwork and performances by local Muslim women to a female audience. The new venue provided a professional space for this group of talented women to share their art with a full house of over 200 people. Proceeds went to local charities, including the Sadaqa Food Bank.
