Invite you to enjoy organic, vegetarian food at The Green Door Restaurant and help African Grannies caring for AIDS orphans

The AIDS pandemic has left millions of children orphaned by AIDS. Africa’s grandmothers have stepped in to care for them; grandmothers who bury their own children and almost single-handedly care for millions of orphaned children – sometimes as many as ten to fifteen in one household. These older women want to provide their grandchildren with good health, an education and a future with meaningful work. The same things Canadian grandmothers want for their grandchildren. This is not easy for the African grandmothers – they need food, health care, school uniforms and school fees, income-generating opportunities, housing, grief counseling, shelter. The Stephen Lewis Foundation funds projects to give assistance to these heroic grandmothers.
