Pre-Nuptial Awareness for Post-Wedding Harmony
An Information Workshop about Muslim Marriage and Family Law in Ontario
The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) has created an information kit to assist Canadian Muslim couples to respectfully use their heritage to define their marriage within the framework of Canadian Family Law. This information workshop will introduce a handbook on a Muslim marriage contract as well as the Sample Marriage Contract documents, which may be included in the contract, or simply discussed before marriage to clarify the commitments. This document has been developed by legal experts with scholarly research from the various Muslim schools of jurisprudence.
CCMW- Ottawa Chapter will offer two workshops. There is no cost to attend. Please confirm your attendance for one of the following workshops, as space is limited:

Weekend parking underground is available at City Hall at a flat rate of $3.75
OCTranspo: Take Bus to Rideau Centre/Mackenzie King Bridge and walk down to City Hall.
Who should attend? This workshop is intended for Canadian Muslim women and men; individuals, couples; parents; lawyers and social service providers. It will be particularly useful for those performing marriage services, and those providing religious counseling to couples before marriage.
Why should I attend? The workshop is intended to increase understanding of the family law in the lives of Ontarians. The information provided will be useful to people who are planning to get married or have recently married. If you wish to become aware of potential marital issues, and learn about the religious and civil laws governing marriage you will benefit from the information contained in the beautiful and meticulously prepared Marriage contract kit.
