It appears the writer of the article Defeating Islamophobia the Prophetic Way (Sept. 24) missed the point or intentionally wanted to promote Humble Muslim Attitude -- or “humblinism” as our pro-Israelism Prime Minister who talks of “Islamism” might say -- a reminder of scholars paid by CIA after the 9/11 fabricated attack. There is guidance from Allah, but the worst among us is the one who uses this guidance in the wrong place and wrong time to bluff others. Talking about the beautiful dua or supplication in Taif represents total forgiveness for oppressors and total trust in Allah. That is not the case when fighting Islamophobia. We cannot keep forgiving and asking Allah to save us from Islamophobia as the writer claims is the Prophet’s way. Taif is a typical lesson for those seeking knowledge. Many stories will show how our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, forgave those who insulted, attacked, or even tried to kill him. But when it came to Islam, Allah’s decrees or Muslim affairs, he would not sit and make dua al-Taif. On the contrary, he would reply, act, and straighten things out. The response to each occasion differed in preparation and action, but at no time was it to just make dua and sit on the fence! Actually, this was the action of all prophets. Read what Jesus, peace be upon him did when the temple was used as a vegetable market. Read what Moses, peace be upon him did when he returned to find his people worshiping the golden calf. They preached peace, but were stern when it involved Allah’s rules. The moral is to forgive what belongs to you, but when it is related to Allah’s rules, the prophetic way was to act, not to make dua al-Taif. Did you get the message? If not, please practice more Englishism. - M. Bassuny, PhD
