Afropolitan Canada (formely known as the Afropolitan Week of Fashion and Arts - AWFA) is a not-for profit organization with a goal to provide tools and skills to women and youth of colour in Canada and in Africa.
Our work is founded on three pillars, the 3E’s = Education, Entrepreneurship and Environmental education.
Created in 2011, the organization evolved from a York University student project that focused on culture and fashion onto a community engagement based organization focused on building stronger communities here and abroad.
In 2018, AWFA rebranded and became Afropolitan Canada. This rebranding helped the team have a much better organizational structure and a clearer mission and vision.
Our work focuses on :
Providing workshops and additional skills to support Black Youth with criminal records to reintegrate the workforce in Ontario,
Developing research papers to inform all levels of government about the most updated real need of the Black youth in Ontario and the rest of Canada,
Supporting women entrepreneurship initiatives in Canada and in the Francophone African countries,
Providing financial support to Black women and men who are looking to pursue their post-secondary education in Health, Tech and Finance,
Providing strategic solutions pertaining to environmental sustainability.
